Therapeutic Action

Sterile, water-soluble, topical anaesthetic

Indications

Surface anaesthesia and lubrication during:

  • endotracheal intubation (oral and nasal)
  • Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) insertion

Instructions for use

2% lidocaine is equivalent to 20mg/ml lidocaine.

The 2% lidocaine jelly provides a rapid, deep anaesthesia of the mucous membranes, lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. Anaesthesia usually sets in within 5 minutes, depending on the surface area applied.

Lubrication for endotracheal intubation: apply 2 gr of lidocaine jelly to the external surface of the endotracheal tube just before use. Avoid introducing the jelly into the lumen of the tube.

Precautions for Use

Do not apply on the eyes.

Do not use to lubricate urinary catheter (use LUBRICANT, water based, sterile, unidose, 5g SMSULUBRW05S, or sterile water) or gastric tube (use drinking water).

Storage

  • Below 25ºC
  • Do not freeze.
  • Tightly close the tube after each use to prevent contamination.
