Sterile, water-soluble, topical anaesthetic

Indications

Local anaesthesia of the skin used to prevent pain prior: :

  • insertion of IV catheters or blood sampling
  • superficial surgical procedures
  • minor dental procedures where local anaesthesia is desired

Also used as anaesthetic lubricant of endotracheal tube prior endotracheal intubation (oral and nasal).

Instructions for use

For topical use only

Lubrication for endotracheal Intubation: apply a moderate amount of jelly to the external surface of the endotracheal tube shortly before use. Avoid introducing the product into the lumen of the tube.

The 2% lidocaine jelly induces a rapid, deep anaesthesia of the mucous membranes lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. Anaesthesia usually occurs within 5 minutes, depending on the surface area applied.

2% lidocaine is equivalent to 20mg/ml lidocaine.

Precautions for Use

Do not apply on the eyes.

Do not use to lubricate urinary catheter (use sterile water-based lubricant or sterile water) or gastric tube (use drinking water) prior insertion.

Storage

  • Below 25ºC
  • Do not freeze.
  • Tightly close the tube after each use to prevent contamination.
