VACCINE HEPATITIS A

Therapeutic Action

Vaccine containing inactivated hepatitis A virus prepared on human diploid-cells.

Indications

Active immunisation against infection caused by hepatitis A virus.

Vaccine only intended for vaccination of international staff from low prevalence countries.

Instructions for use

Pre-filled syringe is for single use.

Shake the syringe before use to homogenise the suspension.

Must be given by IM route, into the deltoid region.

Depending on the vaccine, 1 adult dose is equivalent to :

  • Havrix® vaccine = 1440 U / 1 ml
  • Avaxim® vaccine = 160 U / 0.5 ml
  • Vaqta® vaccine = 50 U / 1 ml

Precautions for Use

As with all injectable vaccines and/or immunoglobulins, appropriate medical treatment should always be readily available in case of rare anaphylactic reactions following the administration of the product.

Storage

  • Keep refrigerated between 2ºC and 8ºC - Protect from sunlight
  • Do not freeze.
  • The vaccine vial monitor (VVM) is mandatory on each vaccine.
