Definition

Partec CyFlow II Counter is a flow cytometer for the quantification of CD4+ T cells and the measurement of the CD4% of lymphocytes in blood.

The CD4+T cell concentration is an indicator for the initiation and follow-up of treatment for people living with HIV, in conjuction with other tests and clinical findings.

Technical specifications

  • Instrument equipped with an air-cooled laser, 3 detectors (right angle scatter = Side Scatter and 2 colours), an integrated computer/printer. Cell populations are gated manually.
    • Absolute CD4 : manual gating on mono-parametric representation with 1 fluorescent antibody (CD4)
    • CD4 % : manual gating on bi-parametric representation with 2 fluorescent antibodies (CD45 and CD4)
  • Absolute counts (cell concentration/μl) are obtained by true volumetric system
  • Sample: 20µl venous whole blood in EDTA blood tube
  • No hemolysis
  • Throughput: 100 samples/day including sample preparation
