Definition
Rubber strap or tubing intended to be wrapped around a patient's limb (arm or leg) and manually tightened to reduce blood circulation. It is typically used when taking blood samples (venous puncture) , but may serve other purposes (e.g. stop haemorrhaging...).

Instructions for use
WARNING: a tourniquet should always be put accurately, especially on children (risk of ischemia if it is left on too long).
Maintenance
If the tourniquet becomes soiled in the operative field,
- it must be cleaned and disinfected with aa detergent/disinfectant solution for surfaces / non-invasive medical equipment. Prepare use-solution in concentration required. Always read the label and product information before use. Do not mix with other products. Make sure to wet the surfaces completely, use a wipe or towel, keep them wet for the whole exposure time.
