Abdominal retractor, Gosset

Definition

A self-locking, surgical instrument used to separate the margins of an abdominal incision typically during deep or extensive surgery, to expose or access organs for examination or intervention. The instrument has wire-like blades that hold the abdomen open and an additional third blade that is tensioned using a series of eyeholes or notches.

Specifications

Technical specifications

  • Abdominal self-retaining retractor with 1 fixed arm and 1 mobile arm
  • Sliding system enabling a variable opening (maximum 110 mm)
  • Mobile, adjustable in height, central blade: 57 x 60 mm
  • Fenestrated lateral blades: depth 58 mm
  • Material: austenitic steel

Instructions for use

Make sure the instrument is properly cleaned as the mobile arm tends to seize up.

Be careful not to loose the carrier sliding on the arm, neither the butterfly fixing the central blade.
