SCISSORS, MAYO, straight 17 cm, 03-50-17
Valid Article
Scissors, Mayo
Definition
Mayo scissors have semi-blunt ends, a feature that distinguishes them from most other surgical scissors. Metzenbaum scissors are, however, similar in that the ends are the same on both scissor halves, but its handles are longer and its middle section is slightly narrower. They are available straight or curved, in a variety of lengths, and have a standard beveled blade. While the curved instrument is most commonly utilized for cutting or dissecting dense or deep tissue and the straight version is typically used for cutting surface tissue or sutures, both may be used interchangeably depending on procedure and physician preference.
General use: used for cutting threads, dressings etc.
