HF automatic antenna tuner, wide-band, intended for quad loop or long wire configurations, for HF base station radios.

Used for short-distance HF communications (up to 1500 km).

Remarks

  • The SG230 is adapted for MSF by the supplier, which installs the following on the tuner:
    • a female PL coaxial connector
    • a power cable for the battery
    • a reset button, 10 cm away from the battery connection
  • For MSF-OCA the power cable is replaced by a remote control cable with a 4-pin male connector, specific to each model of radio:
    • 2 cables for the battery (+/-)
    • 2 cables for the tuner control

Instructions for use

A horizontal quad loop antenna installation consists of one cable configured as an 11 x 11 m square (for frequencies in the 7 MHz range), placed at about 4 - 6 m above the roof or the ground.

The tuner should be installed as close as possible to the antenna, on one of the 4 antenna masts.

This tuner is sensitive to electrical shocks (e.g. lightning). You are recommended to keep a spare tuner, since in the event of damage the antenna will be unusable.

Caution: the tuner is waterproof only when installed in the right position (coaxial connector facing downwards).

Make sure that the various cables do not exert any traction on the tuner.

Make sure that the antenna wire does not touch any object (trees, roof etc.) and that its ends do not touch each other near the tuner. Use the insulators to insulate the antenna wire from the antenna masts.

When used in long wire configuration, earthing of the tuner is essential (contact your technical department).
