Therapeutic Action
Long-acting penicillin antibacterial (15-20 days)
Indications
Endemic treponematoses (yaws, bejel, pinta)
Streptococcal tonsillitis
Prophylaxis of diphtheria in the event of direct contact
Primary and secondary prophylaxis of rheumatic fever
Instructions for use
- 1.2 MIU = 900 mg benzathine benzylpenicillin to be reconstituted with the diluent supplied (4 ml water for injection).
- 2.4 MIU = 1.8 g benzathine benzylpenicillin to be reconstituted with the diluent supplied (8 ml water for injection).
Must be given as IM injection only.
Precautions for Use
Never administer by IV route or infusion.
Do not confuse with short-acting benzylpenicillin (peni G), administered by IV route.
Storage
- Below 25°C - Protect from sunlight ‐ Protect from humidity
- After reconstitution, use the suspension immediately.
