Instructions for use

Dilute in 0.9% NaCl.

Must be given as continuous IV infusion using an infusion or syringe pump.

Caution!

In some countries, the dosage is labelled/licenced in mg/ml tartrate or in mg/ml base: 2 mg noradrenaline tartrate = 1 mg noradrenaline base

e.g.: 8 mg/4 ml tartrate = 4 mg/4 ml base (1 ml contains 2 mg noradrenaline tartrate equivalent to 1 mg noradrenaline base).

Precautions for Use

Norepinephrine is similar to adrenaline: it provokes vasoconstriction, increases blood pressure and glucaemia.

Do not administer to patients:

  • in case of hypertension
  • under halothane anaesthesia (risk of ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation)
  • in case of hypotension due to blood volume deficit, except in emergencies
  • in case of mesenteric or peripheral vascular thrombosis

Administer with caution and carefully monitor usein patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or triptyline or imipramine antidepressants (risk of severe and prolonged hypertension).

Storage

Below 25°C - Protect from sunlight
