VACCINE TYPHOID CONJUGATE, 1 dose, multid. vial
Valid Article
VACCINE TYPHOID conjugate
CAUTION
The multidose vaccine is worded and codified by unit (= 1 dose) to make the order easier.
Therapeutic Action
Typhoid Vi conjugate vaccine
Indications
Active immunisation against typhoid fever in adults and children from 6 months of age.
The typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV) offers a broader age range (can be administered from the age of 6 months) and longer-lasting protection (probably several years) than the typhoid unconjugate polysaccharide vaccine administered from the age of 2 years, with protection for 2 years.
The conjugate vaccine should replace the polysaccharide unconjugate vaccine.
Instructions for use
Suspension in liquid form. Shake well before use to homogenise the suspension.
Must be given as IM injection in the anterolateral aspect of thigh or upper arm (deltoid), on a one-dose schedule.
The multidose vial is more suitable for programme use and/or mass vaccination campaigns.
Orders are always done in number of doses and not in number of vials! (See Preliminary remarks on Vaccines)
The monodose vial is intended for staff vaccination. This presentation will reduce the wastage and reluctance to open a multi-dose vial if the number of people to be vaccinated is too low.
Precautions for Use
Do not administer into the gluteal muscle.
As with all injectable vaccines and/or immunoglobulins, appropriate medical treatment should always be readily available in case of rare anaphylactic reactions following the administration of the product.
Storage
- Keep refrigerated between 2ºC and 8ºC
- Do not freeze.
- Opened vials: store between 2°C and 8°C for up to 6 hrs.
- The vaccine vial monitor (VVM) is mandatory on each vaccine.
