BEDSIDE MEAL CARD, ITFC, English

Printable pdf file can be downloaded in above Documents paragraph.

Definition

Card for prescribing recording the food taken by the child in the inpatient therapeutic feeding (ITFC).

This card can be attached to the end of a patient's bed for quick reference for the amount of milk they will need at the next feeding time, which can help nutrition assistants with planning quantities for the whole ITFC and also for each feed.

The advice is to laminate these cards locally and then amounts can be written on with washable pen and then easily changed as the quantities of milk or RUTF changes during the day or from one day to another.

The section on meals on the right of the card means this card can also be used in the Paediatric IPD and may be especially useful for children on specialised diets (e.g. for Nephrotic Syndrome) and also for children in phase 2 in the ITFC who are receiving hospital meals in addition to the RUTF.
