Instructions for use

Preparation and Reconstitution of drink powder

  • Preparation should take place in a clean environment on cleaned and disinfected work surfaces.
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry with a clean cloth or single-use towel.
  • Boil water for 2 minutes, then allow it to cool to 60-70°C before adding the powder. Use a digital food-grade thermometer to check the water temperature.
  • Pour the exact required amount of water (at 70°C) (see below) into a cleaned and sterilised recipient. Use a 100 ml measuring jug or a 100 ml graduated glass beaker with a spout.
  • Add the required amount of powder, following the manufacturer's instruction written on the tin.
  • Mix the preparation with a sterilised utensil until completely diluted.
  • Remark on the measuring spoon:
    • Use the measuring spoon provided in the tin by the manufacturer. Do NOT use a measuring spoon from another product or manufacturer.
    • Do not wash the measuring spoon; return it to the tin after use.
    • Ensure the measuring spoon remains dry; if it becomes wet, dry it thoroughly before placing it back in the tin.

Administration

  • Enteral use:
    • Pour the prescribed amount of reconstituted formulation into the patient's enteral feeding reservoir, label it accordingly, and administer via nasogastric tube.
    • Use within 6 hours at room temperature.
  • Oral use:
    • Allow the preparation cool to room temperature.
    • Drink within 1 hour.

Conservation after reconstitution

  • The reconstituted drink (liquid) should preferably be consumed immediately and always within 1 hour (oral use) or 6 hours (enteral use by tube).
  • If not consumed immediately, refrigerate the preparation (do not exceed 5ºC). Stir before consumption.
  • Refrigerated preparations should be consumed within 24 hours.
  • Discard any refrigerated preparation that has not been consumed within 24 hours.
