INTERFACE CAN (Studer XCOM-CAN)

Form

CAN communication interface module for Studer Xtender systems.

  • indicator: bi-coloured LED for status (operation, datalogging, update, errors, communication)

  • control: push button to activate/deactivate datalogger

  • storage: MicroSD / MicroSDHC ≤ 32 GB (not compatible with MicroSDXC)

  • mounting: fixing plate, adhesive, or DIN rail with supplied clips

  • dimensions: approx. 90 × 73 × 26 mm

  • weight: ~0.2 kg

Includes:

  • 1 × Xcom-CAN communication module

  • 1 × MicroSD card with adaptor

  • 1 × mounting plate

  • 2 × DIN rail clips with screws

Per piece.

Fit

  • communication ports: Studer CAN bus (proprietary) and isolated CAN RJ45 port

  • integration: connects to Studer communication bus (Xtender, VarioTrack, VarioString, BSP, RCC)

  • CAN port: allows direct link between Studer system and CAN-enabled devices (mainly lithium battery BMS)

  • configuration: via MicroSD card and XCOM Configurator software

  • installation: mounted close to Studer system, ≤ 10 m communication cable recommended

Function

Provides CAN communication between Studer Xtender systems and external CAN-bus devices.

  • enables direct integration with lithium battery BMS (e.g. BYD, Pylontech, others certified by Studer)

  • exchanges battery status data (SOC, voltage, current, alarms) between BMS and Xtender system

  • ensures optimized charging and discharging of lithium batteries according to manufacturer's specifications

  • datalogging on MicroSD card (CSV files, daily, minute resolution)

  • firmware updates for Studer devices via MicroSD

Limitations:

  • only for CAN-compatible devices certified by Studer (not universal for all CAN protocols)

  • indoor use only, must be protected from humidity, dust, shocks and condensation

  • MicroSD mandatory for data logging and updates

  • cable distance limited (≤ 10 m for bus connections)

Durability: robust design for continuous operation in professional and industrial energy systems.

Storing conditions:store in a dry, temperate environment, protected against shocks, ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge), moisture and dust.
