Fit

  • This device is specifically designed for the protection of a panel or a string of panels in a high-voltage DC circuit (e.g., photovoltaic installation) up to 1000V.

  • Respecting the correct voltage polarity is required.

Function

  • MCBs are electromechanical devices which protect an electrical circuit from an overcurrent (thermal protection) and short circuits (magnetic protection).

  • An MCB functions by interrupting the continuity of electrical flow through the circuit once a fault is detected.

  • Curve B specifics: designed to trip instantaneously between 3 to 5 times the rated current:

    • comparison: this is more sensitive than the standard curve C (which trips at 5-10 x rated current)

    • application: curve B is strictly used for the protection of resistive loads (non-inductive) or circuits with long cable runs (where line impedance limits the short-circuit current)
