Indications
Induction of labour
Instructions for use
May be given by oral or vaginal route:
- If oral administration is not possible (vomiting, impaired consciousness), administer by vaginal route.
- Caution! oral tablet (DORAMISP25T) may be administered by oral or vaginal route. In contrary, vaginal tablet (DEXTMISP25TV) must be administered by vaginal route only!
- Administration by vaginal route:
- to be administered by medical staff (doctor or midwife)
- wash hands carefully.
- take the tablet out from the blister.
- the patient laying down on a gynaecological examination table, insert the tablet into the posterior fornix of the vagina.
Misoprostol 200 µg can be used as an alternative in case of supply issue with 25 µg dosage. Dissolve 1 tablet of misoprostol 200 µg in 200 ml water and give 25 ml of the dissolved solution (25 ml = 25 µg).
Precautions for Use
- Do not administer in the event of previous caesarean section.
- Administer with caution in case of grand multiparity or overdistention of the uterus (risk of uterine rupture).
- Monitor the intensity and frequency of contractions as well as foetal heart rate after administration of misoprostol.
- Do not administer simultaneously with oxytocin.
- Do not use misoprostol in ectopic or molar pregnancy.
