Instructions for use

Two presentations for different indications (IM or IV route):

  • IM route: no dilution required (1:1000 solution)
  • IV route: dilute 1 ampoule in 9 ml of 0.9% NaCl to obtain a solution containing 0.1 mg/ml epinephrine (1:10 000 solution)

For hospital settings, order the IV presentation.

In severe acute laryngotracheobronchitis AND under the strict responsibility of the clinical practitioner, epinephrine may be given by nebulisation (using 1 mg/ml ampoule) in 5 ml of 0.9% NaCl, in combination with IM dexamethasone.

Precautions for Use

Depending on the manufacturer, the route of administration is specified on the packaging (IM only, or IV only).

Before administration, check the concentration and route of administration indicated on the ampoule.

Discard ampoules with pink or brownish contents (epinephrine solution is colourless).

Storage

  • Below 25ºC - Protect from sunlight
  • Keep the ampoules in the protective secondary packaging.
