Therapeutic Action

Progestogen long-acting contraceptive for subdermal insertion.

Indications

Long-acting contraception for up to 5 years, after which the implant must be replaced.

Instructions for use

The implant consists of two flexible rods made of a silicone-based polymer.

Each rod is 43 mm long, 2.5 mm in diameter, and contains 75 mg levonorgestrel.

The rods should be inserted subdermally (subcutaneously) on the inner side of the non-dominant upper arm, 8 to 10 cm above the bony prominence of the elbow and 3 to 5 cm below the biceps, using aseptic techniques and local anaesthesia.

Equipment required for insertion

For insertion and removal procedures, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

This product is supplied in a packaging containing 2 Jadelle® implant rods and one packaging containing 1 single-use sterile Jadelle® trocar.

Precautions for Use

The Jadelle® implant (Bayer Oy) is intended for up to 5 years of use. Always check the product packaging and the manufacturer's leaflet.

The Jadelle® trocar is for single use only! After insertion, it must be discarded in a sharps container.
