Therapeutic Action

Progestogen contraceptive for subdermal insertion.

Indications

Long-acting contraception, for a maximum of three to five years, after which the implant must be changed.

Instructions for use

Implant consist of two flexible silicone-based polymer rods.

Each rod is 43 mm in length, 2.5 mm in diameter, and contains 75 mg levonorgestrel.

Insert sub-dermally (subcutaneously) on the inner side of the non-dominant upper arm, 8-10 cm from the elbow's bony prominence and 3-5 cm below the biceps, using aseptic techniques and local anaesthesia.

Required equipment for insertion

For insertion and removal procedures, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

The implant is supplied in a bag containing 2 implants and 2 sterile trocars.

Therapeutic alternative: etonogestrel implant (duration of use: 3 years).

Precautions for Use

Caution!

The duration of use may vary depending on the manufacturer:

  • Jadelle® (Bayer Oy): 5 years
  • Levoplant® (Shanghai Dahua): 3 years
