Therapeutic Action
Combination of two antibacterials.
The addition of clavulanic acid to amoxicillin extends its spectrum of activity to cover beta-lactamase producing Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including some Gram-negative anaerobes.
Indications
Multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), in combination with imipenem / cilastatin

Instructions for use
Amoxicillin / clavulanic acid is routinely administered prior to carbapenems, as clavulanic acid prevents the development of carbapenem resistance.
Must be given 60 min before each dose of imipenem / cilastatin.
Precautions for Use
Only formulation with a ratio 4:1 (500/125 mg) is suitable for this indication. Do not use formulations with a ratio 8:1 or 7:1.
