Drug-Resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), in combination with other TB medicines

Drug-Sensitive tuberculosis (DS-TB)

Instructions for use

The 50 and 100 mg dispersible tablets are intended for paediatric use. To be dispersed in 10 ml water.

The dispersible tablet should replaces the normal 100mg tablet (second choice).

Blister packaging is the packaging of choice for antituberculosis medicines due to the unstable nature of some of them when exposed to higher temperatures and humidity.

Bulk packaging (hospital packs) should only be used in special circumstances or in case of unexpected problems in availability of the blister presentation.

The quantity to be ordered is calculated per tablet, not per blister.

When ethambutol is used in association with other TB medicines, fixed-dose combinations (FDC) are available:

  • E 275mg / H 75mg / Z 400mg / R 150mg, tab., blister
  • E 275mg / H 75mg / R 150mg, tab., blister

Precautions for Use

Do not administer to patients with severe renal impairment or pre-existing optic neuritis (e.g. diabetic retinopathy).
