Indications

Severe and persistent pain

Treatment of patients in reconstructive surgery programme and burns that require long term therapy and a stable blood level

Instructions for use

Prolonged-(sustained) release morphine is supplied in capsule or tablet depending on the manufacturer.

Do not crush or chew the capsules (they may be opened and the contents mixed with food).

It is recommended to simultaneously order naloxone injectable (specific opioid antagonist).

Distribution to be controlled: narcotics register or supervision of amounts in and out, and storage under lock and key (Cf Introduction: Narcotic and psychotropic medicines under international control)
