Definition

A portable lead screen provides protection to staff from ionizing radiation when using x-rays in an area where there is no in-built protective structure. It is a necessary item when sending a mobile x-ray unit to the field in an emergency setting where there is perhaps no time or capacity to build a radiation safe space.

Material

Manufactured from solid panels with a lead core covered on both sides with a plastic laminate. A window of lead glass must also be built into the structure.

  • Thickness a minimum of 2 mm lead or lead equivalent material (both panel and glass)

  • On lockable castors (rollers)
