Definition
A flat, stiff device intended to be placed under a patient (the patient is usually strapped to this device) to ensure spinal immobilization when a spinal injury is suspected. This device is often used in combination with a head/neck immobilizing device that is also typically fixed or strapped to it. It is typically used after serious accidents and for transport of the patient on a stretcher.

Instructions for use
The spine board and head immobilizer are intended to transport a patient with serious accidents to the hospital, mostly with an ambulance.
- Apply the cervical collar and manually immobilize the head and neck of the patient during the whole procedure for patients with suspected spinal injury (see related articles below)
- Immobilize possible fractures.
- Secure the patient's trunk and lower extremities with the straps positioned at the patient's chest, pelvis and knees
Maintenance
After each use the spine board must be cleaned and disinfected with a detergent/disinfectant solution for surfaces /non-invasive medical equipment. Prepare use-solution in concentration required. Always read the label and product information before use. Do not mix with other products. Make sure to wet the surfaces completely, use a wipe or towel, keep them wet for the whole exposure time.
