COVER GLASS, for slide mounting

Definition

A large thin piece of glass placed over a specimen on a microscope slide, to serve as a physical barrier to protect the specimen from mechanical forces and environmental exposure.

It is used to cover slides intended for the preservation of smears for training purposes.

Instructions for use

The cover glasses should be fixated with microscopy fixator liquid (EUKITT).

For the direct examination of samples, use standard cover glasses (see related articles below).

Storage

  • Store in a dry and well ventilated place.
  • Guaranteed minimum remaining shelf life at delivery: 1/3 of total shelf life

MSF requirements

Larger than the standard cover glasses in order to cover the whole film.
