Definition

​​A hand-held, surgical instrument used for hooking around a nerve or a blood vessel in order to separate it from the surrounding tissue during a surgical intervention. It is a shaft-like instrument with a right angled hook with blunt bulbous or rounded tip at the distal end and a handle at the proximal end.
