Rochard abdominal retractor system

Definition

A Rochard abdominal retractor is a specialized, often self-retaining surgical instrument system used for deep abdominal and pelvic surgeries, featuring a frame, adjustable arms, and broad concave blades to hold tissues and organs aside, providing surgeons with stable, hands-free, wide exposure for better visibility and access during complex procedures like organ removal or vascular repairs, minimizing manual effort.

Specifications

The Rochard Retractor system consists of a frame, a v-shaped fixating crossbar, and a fixable retractor blade which outline enhances vision and its width grants the retraction of multiple tissue layers.

The retractor has a wide concave blade and an anchor-shaped ringed handle. The shaft has circular slots for inserting the v-shaped mechanism at different heights.

The frame has a pair of hooks on its superior bars. The operator inserts the hooks into the v-shaped crossbar rings for fixating the retractor. the retraction pressure and angle can be controlled by a manually operated screw mechanism, obtaining static retractions and leaving the surgeon's hands free.
