FREEZING INDICATOR (Freeze-tag)

Definition

Irreversible freezing indicator which allows the quality of the cold chain to be checked by indicating whether products have been exposed for more than 1 hour to a temperature below 0 ºC.

Specifications

  • Device consisting of an electronic temperature measuring circuit with LCD display
  • Dimensions: 49 x 30 x 10.5 mm
  • Temperature measuring accuracy: ± 0.3 ºC
  • Time measuring accuracy: ± 5%
  • Operating temperature: -20 ºC to +50 ºC

When the indicator is exposed to a temperature below 0 ºC for more than one hour, the display changes from "OK" to "ALARM".

Instructions for use

  • Put a Freeze-tag® in every refrigerator, cold-box and vaccine carrier containing freeze-sensitive products (unless Stop!Watch® is already being used).
  • Before reading, keep the Freeze-tag® at a temperature above 0 ºC for at least 2 minutes.
  • Read the result on the display:
    • V: The product has not been exposed to a temperature below 0 ºC
    • X: The product has been exposed to a temperature below 0 ºC for longer than the alarm activation time.

If the display remains blank, expose the Freeze-tag® to room temperature and wait at least 2 minutes.

If the display is still blank, check the expiry date.

Repeated use

The Freeze-tag® can be used as often as required as long as the alarm has not been activated and the expiry date printed on the casing has not been reached.

Shelf life: 5 years

Safety measures

The Freeze-tag® contains a lithium battery. Observe the following instructions carefully:

  • Do not open or destroy the Freeze-tag® casing.
  • Do not expose the Freeze-tag® to high temperatures (fire, oven, microwave etc.).
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • When disposing of old batteries, be sure to do so in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Storage

The Freeze-tag® is always active and must never be stored below 4 ºC!
