SMOKE DETECTOR

Form

Smoke detector or smoke alarm, typically housed in a disk-shaped plastic enclosure, with diameter ± 150 mm and thickness ± 25 mm, but the shape can vary per manufacturer.

Specifications:

  • photoelectric detector, tested in accordance with EN 14604
  • test button for a functional check
  • acoustic alarm of min. 80 decibel (dB)
  • acoustic signal when the battery is low

Fit

To be installed on the ceiling of a room.

Usually the smoke detectors works with a 9 volt PP3 battery, that is not included.

Function

Used as alert in case of smoke as fire indicator. Strict and clear procedures must be in place to follow if the alarm rings. In more and more countries a smoke detector is compulsory.
