Definition

Crepe bandages, commonly made of cotton, are a woven, elasticated bandage. Crepe bandages are ideal to cover dressings. Cotton also allows the skin to breathe. Crepe bandages are used for dressing retention but is never applied directly to wounds.

Instructions for use

Do not cut out the bandage since it risks to fray.

Make sure that it is not applied too tight, otherwise the bandage may inadvertently act as a tourniquet.

Precautions for Use

Crepe bandages may contain elastane (about 5%). In this case, they can be used, but not sterilized by steam autoclave.
