Instructions for use

Preparation of acid alcohol:

  • 3% hydrochloric acid for Ziehl-Neelsen staining intended for tuberculosis
  • 1% hydrochloric acid for Ziehl-Neelsen staining intended for leprosy and staining with auramine O

Dilution: always pour the water in a test tube first and then add the acid. By doing it the other way round, the acid might splatter (risk of burns).

Pure acid: do not mouth pipet.
