Instructions for use

The kit is sufficient for 100 to 200 slides if the manufacturer's procedure is followed.

First choice for the staining of blood smears.

Although the kit allows to detect parasites, the kit is not to be used for thick blood films since methanol fixes red blood cells (use Giemsa).

Tightly close the bottles after use to prevent evaporation or contamination with atmospheric humidity. Beware, methanol is particularly hygroscopic.

Follow exactly the staining times.

Allow the slide to drip dry between the R2 and R3 solution.

Can not be used to do a series of slides.

R1, R2 and R3 can be ordered separately.

Please consult the “Updated laboratory procedures, 2022” available online via the Laboratory working Group sharepoint page: Laboratory Procedures and Resources.

Storage

  • At room temperature
  • Store FIX-RAL and BLUE-RAL between 15 and 25°C
  • R2 and R3 solutions have limited shelf life and should be used within two months after opening
