Major depression, in case of intolerance or contraindication to fluoxetine or paroxetine

Instructions for use
Prefer fluoxetine and paroxetine as SSRI antidepressants. The added value of sertraline is the low rate of drug interactions.
Sertraline is the first choice for depression in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Precautions for Use
Avoid combination with:
- alcohol: risk of drowsiness
- aspirin and NSAIDs: risk of bleeding
- serotonergic medicines (other SSRI, tricyclic antidepressants): risk of serotonin syndrome
Monitor association with risperidone (increased plasma concentration), medicines which lower the seizure threshold (antipsychotics, mefloquine, etc.).
