Single use

This test is worded and codified by unit to make the order easier, but it is always packaged in cartridge of 100 strips.

Definition

The oxidase strip is a diagnostic test used for the differentiation and microbial identification, particularly of Gram negative bacteria, on the basis of the presence of enzyme cytochrome oxidase.

Precautions for Use

All biological samples must be considered as potentially infectious and handled with the usual precautions (compulsory wearing of gloves, hand washing, etc.).

Storage

  • Store between 2°C and 8°C.
  • Store in a dry place.
  • Do not use after expiry date.
  • Shelf life: 24 months
  • Guaranteed minimum remaining shelf life at delivery: 1/3 of the total shelf life.

Waste management

After use, sterilize the cultures and all contaminated material. Contact your watsan referent for advice on proper disposal.

MSF requirements

Strips are to be used instead of oxidase discs as their shelf life is longer and they can be cut in pieces and more test can be done.
