Definition

Lipid-based Nutrient Supplement - Medium Quantity (LNS-MQ) is a ready-to-use product in paste form, intended for the prevention of Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) in children from 6 to 36 months of age.

Consumed as a supplement to the usual diet, this product allows to balance the daily intake of micronutrients.

Examples: Plumpy doz, eeZee50, Wawa Mum (donations from WFP)

Main Composition

Vegetable fat, peanut‌ or chick peas (Wawa Mum from WFP), sugar, skimmed milk powder, whey, maltodextrin, minerals and vitamins complex, cocoa, emulsifier: soy lecithin.

Does not contain any ingredients of animal origin, except milk products.

Packaging & Labelling

Primary and secondary packaging must protect the hygienic and nutritional qualities of the product during transport, handling, storage under MSF field conditions.

  • Primary packaging (unit packaging): 50 g aluminium sachet
  • Secondary packaging: box of 300 sachets (net weight: 15 kg, gross weight:16 kg)

Instructions for use

This product does not require dilution or cooking. Its packaging facilitates direct consumption.

Recommended dosage: 1 sachet per day

Storage

  • Below 30ºC - Protect from sunlight ‐ Protect from humidity
  • Shelf life: 24 months from the manufacturing date stated on the packaging
  • After opening, the product should be consumed within 24 hrs.
  • The carton must be strong, able to be stacked to a height of 2.4 m.
