CONDUCTIVITY METER EC/TDS/temperature (HI98311)

Form

Small portable electronic instrument to measure the conductivity and the temperature of water. Closed article: (Hanna Instruments HI98311). Unit of measurement: 1 piece

Related products: cleaning solution and calibration solution.

Fit

Is part of the Water Treatment Quality Monitoring kit (KWATKTREQM-).

Function

Used to measure the conductivity and temperature of raw and potentially also treated water.

The conductivity of raw water gives an indirect indication of its quality: underneath 400 µS/cm, coagulation / flocculation might be problematic; above 1400 µS/cm, the water might turn slightly salty if chlorine is added; above 2000 µS/cm, the water is considered salty and above 3000 µS/cm, the water is considered polluted. This measure is specifically important for water treatment, pumping tests (in coastal areas) and general water quality analysis.

The water temperature has an influence on the conductivity, and is also important for water treatment (coagulation / flocculation, chlorination) and might give an indication of the water quality.

Regular calibration is needed to assure accurate measurements. Make sure that the calibration is done as described in the the user manual.

If needed, a cleaning solution can be used.
