VACCINE CHOLERA oral

Therapeutic Action

Inactivated bivalent vaccine containing O1 (serotypes Inaba and Ogawa, including classical biotypes and El Tor biotype) and O139 of Vibrio cholerae.

Indications

Active immunization against Vibrio Cholerae in adults and children over 1 year of age

Instructions for use

Oral suspension in liquid form

Shake the plastic tube before use to homogenise the suspension.

2 doses given orally at 2 week intervals.

The plastic tube presentation is preferred to the vial as it facilitates the administration of the vaccine.

Orders are always done in number of doses and not in number of vials! (See Preliminary remarks on Vaccines)

Precautions for Use

Do not adminsiter in children under 1 year of age.

Storage

  • Keep refrigerated between 2ºC and 8ºC - Protect from sunlight
  • Shanchol® vaccine may be stored in a controlled temperature chain (CTC) for up to 14 days at temperature not exceeding 40°C immediately prior to administration. Unopened vials should be discarded at the end of the 14 days or if exposed to temperatures > 40ºC (See Preliminary remarks on Vaccines).
  • Do not freeze. Do not use the vaccine if it has been frozen.
  • The vaccine vial monitor (VVM) is mandatory on each vaccine.
