Definition

A mechanical bed designed to be used as a patient bed for rest/sleep in a hospital ward/room.

It includes a framework with wheels, a height adjustable mattress support platform that can articulate, a headboard and footboard, side rails and mechanical manually-operated controls to operate the bed.

Technical specifications

  • Safe working load (SWL) and Maximum patient weight must be visible on the bed frame
  • Stability of the bed: 220 kg weight used for testing (equivalent of two adults on an empty bed)

FOLDABLE SIDE RAILS

  • Gaps and clearance of side rails are defined by the standard
    • between top of mattress and top of side rails: minimum 22 cm
    • between side rails and bed ends: < 6 cm or >31.8cm
    • between side rail bars and mattress platform and bottom rail: < 12 cm
  • Side-rails must with-hold a force of 250 N/ 25.5kg between all the bars, includes the lower bar and the bed frame.
  • Locking mechanism on the side rails must be robust: must withstand a 30,000 cycle test (up and down) and 3,000 cycles with a 10 kg load

Prevention sore (medium risk) FOAM MATTRESS adapted to the size of the bed (EHOEBEDH601).

Memory foam and cubed foam mattresses for preventing bedsores adapt to the body's shape of the patient, increase the contact surface and optimize the pressure redistribution. The mattress is covered with a removable, waterproof, breathable and bidirectional stretch cover.

Instructions for use

Maintenance

Can be cleaned and disinfected with a detergent/disinfectant solution for surfaces / non-invasive medical equipment. Prepare use-solution in concentration required. Always read the label and product information before use. Do not mix with other products. Make sure to wet the surfaces completely, use a wipe or towel, keep them wet for the whole exposure time.

MSF requirements

Adjustable beds are required in the Critical Care for comfort of the patient and to facilitate comfortable transfer to and from emergency/OT/wards etc. This bed is also required to carry out emergency medical procedures, nursing care and radiological procedures at the bedside.
