TELMISARTAN / AMLODIPINE

Therapeutic Action

Fixed-dose combination (FDC) of two antihypertensives:

  • telmisartan: angiiotensin II receptor blocker
  • amlodipine: dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker

Indications

First-line treatment of essential hypertension in adults

Additional treatment in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by amlodipine alone.

Instructions for use

Start with 1 tablet daily, and increase to a maximum of 2 tablets daily as necessary to achieve a target BP <140/90.

Precautions for Use

Closely monitor blood pressure.

Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Administer with caution in patients with cholestasis, biliary obstructive disorders, or hepatic impairment, renal artery stenosis, aortic or mitral stenosis, or obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HOCM).
