Therapeutic Action

Oxazolidinone bactericidal

In-vitro activity against aerobic Gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic microorganisms

Not active in infections due to Gram-negative bacteria

Indications

Last resort option in the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Coagulase-Negative Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae).

Reserved for acute patients or when oral route is not possible.

Alternative to vancomycin in contexts with high rate of side effects due to vancomycin (e.g. Middle East).

Instructions for use

Must be given as IV infusion over 30-120 minutes.

Storage

  • Below 25°C - Protect from sunlight
  • Store in the original package (overwrap and carton).
  • Do not freeze.
  • After first opening, use the product immediately.
