SOLVENT CEMENT, CPVC, orange, heavy bodied, for pipes, 0.5kg

Form

This is a heavy bodied, medium set CPVC Solvent Cement, formulated for use on CPVC pipes and fittings.

Physical Properties:

  • Color: Orange
  • Body: Heavy Bodied
  • Set: Medium
  • Specific Gravity: 0.976
  • Shelf life: 3 years (Unopened can)

It is viscous (thick) and, carries very good gap filling properties

It may also be used on small diameter pipes and fittings. This cement requires a longer cure time. When joining large diameter pipe & fittings the use of primers is highly recommended

Fit

Ideal for joining large diameterCPVC pipes & fittingswherethe gap between pipes andfittings is large.

This cement is good for joining Schedule 40 & 80 CPVC pipes and fittings up to 12” (315 mm) diameter interference fit. It is approved for hot (up to 180°F/82°C) and cold water pressure applications. It may also be used for non-pressure applications such as drain, waste, vent, sewer, gas, conduit, etc.

Function

Solvent cements are mixtures of solvents (chemicals) and plastic resins used to weld (join) plastic pipe and fittings. The solvents penetrate‌(attack) the surfaces of the pipe and fitting, causing them to soften and swell. The swelling of the pipe and fitting continues until the gaps between the two are closed. Resin fills any gaps that may remain open. Solvent are liquid and they evaporate. As the solvents evaporate, the pipe and fitting cure into a single piece of plastic. Solvent cements are not glue and will only join (weld) plastic pipe to each other.
