Definition
Sodium bicarbonate, when used as a mouthwash, has anticaries and abrasive properties.
It acts as:

- a neutraliser of acid production in the mouth
- an antiseptic, helping in the prevention of oral infections

Instructions for use
Mouthwash:
- Dissolve 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in a glass of warm water.
- Take a mouthful of the solution, rinse and gargle for about 60 seconds.
- Spit out the solution and rinse the mouth thoroughly with plain water. Do not swallow the solution.
- Use a full glass of mouthwash at least four times daily.
