Strong uterotonic, semi-synthetic derivative of ergometrine

Indications

Postpartum haemorrhage due to uterine atony

Instructions for use

Must be given as IM injection only.

The solution must be colourless. Any colouring indicates a degradation of the active ingredient. Never use a coloured solution.

Do not confuse with dihydroergotamine.

Storage

  • Keep refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C - Protect from sunlight
  • Do not freeze.
  • Expiry date indicated by the manufacturer is only valid for ampoules stored in a refrigerator and protected from light.
  • If refrigeration is not available, the solution may be stored below 25ºC for 14 days and protected from light.
  • Shelf life: from 18 to over 36 months depending on the manufacturer. Check the manufacturer's information on the packaging.
