Therapeutic Action

Short-acting penicillin antibacterial (4-6 hours)

Indications

Instructions for use

  • 1 MIU = 600 mg benzylpenicillin (peni G) to be reconstituted with 2 ml of water for injection or 0.9% NaCl.
  • 5 MIU = 3 g benzylpenicillin (peni G) to be reconstituted with 5 ml of water for injection or 0.9% NaCl.

Must be given as IM or slow IV injection through an infusion tube or infusion in 0.9% NaCl or 5% dextrose.

Precautions for Use

Do not confuse with long-acting penicillins (benzathine penicillin and procaine benzyl penicillin) administered by IM route only.

Storage

  • Below 25°C - Protect from sunlight - Protect from humidity
  • After reconstitution, use the suspension immediately.
