Antidepressant, non-selective monoamine reuptake inhibitor (tricyclic antidepressant)

Indications

Neuropathic pain, in association with gabapentine

Instructions for use

SSRI antidepressants (fluoxetine, paroxetine) are antidepressants with fewer contraindications and adverse effects and are first line in treatment of depression.

Precautions for Use

Administer with caution and monitor combination with:

  • CNS depressants (opioid analgesics, sedatives, H1 anti-histamines, etc.)
  • medicines known to have anticholinergic effects (atropine, chlorpromazine, promethazine, etc.)
  • medicines which lower the seizure threshold (antipsychotics, mefloquine, etc.)
  • serotonergic medicines (SSRI, tricyclic antidepressants, ondansetron, tramadol, etc.)
  • anti-hypertensive medicines
