Definition

The magill forceps is an angled forceps used to guide the endotracheal tube into the laryngeal inlet during nasotracheal intubation or a nasogastric tube into the esophagus under direct vision. It is also used to place pharyngeal packs and removal of foreign bodies.

It has a scissors-like design with ring handles. The distal working end has grasping blades that have small ringed loops. The blades are serrated to provide extra grip.
