DIGITAL IMAGING SCANNER (Agfa CR10X) + accessories
Definition
Complete digital imaging receptor system.
A digital image receptor system (IRS) or computed radiography (CR) replaces the traditional system of using film and chemistry in a darkroom. The output is a digital image which can be viewed on a monitor, stored and sent like other digital images.
An IRS can be used with most x-ray machines. The IRS uses similar sized and shaped cassettes to the film screen system and fits into the same cassette holder on the x-ray unit.
Instead of film, inside the IRS cassettes there is a phosphor-coated screen which "stores" the image. When the cassette is inserted into the IRS machine, the screen is scanned and within a minute the image is available on the monitor for viewing. The image can be stored on a hard drive, CD, USB key or sent by e-mail. The screen is then automatically erased and can be reused thousands of times.
