Maintenance

Glass beads 3 mm are to be autoclaved after contact with contaminated material. Glass beads 10 mm must be soaked in water and detergent after use, and sterilized in the same Erlenmeyer flask used to homogenize the eggs during Lowenstein-Jensen medium preparation.

Sterilized glass beads 3 mm are used to homogenize Mycobacteria colonies during standard dilutions preparation.
Sterile glass beads 10 mm, placed in an Erlenmeyer flask, help to homogenize eggs during Lowenstein-Jensen medium preparation.
