Precautions for Use

  • Place the BSC far from air flow (windows, doors).
  • Secure all electrical devices in the laboratory‌ with a UPS double conversion. To define the best sizing of the UPS, contact your biomedical or energy referent.

Maintenance

  • Refer to user manual for cleaning procedures
  • Check the UV lamp regularly with UV meter 49 or with an agar blood plate to check for viability of the microorganisms after UV exposure
  • Check the anemomether level regularly in order to evaluate the need for the HEPA filter to be replaced.
  • Never remove the HEPA filter yourself, always request for technical support from supplier of MSF Biomedical Department
  • Before ordering the BSC, contact your biomedical referent in order to assess the availability of local/regional maintenance

MSF requirements

BSC Class II is compulsory for culture, drug susceptibility testing and identification of mycobacteria and for manipulation of bones and tissues samples and cultures.

Reserved for TB culture and bacteriology programmes.
