Definition

Solar kit allowing to power a radio room equipped with a HF radio, a VHF base station and a satphone.

Indications

Includes 2 solar generator modules, 2 batteries and 1 battery charger/inverter.

Instructions for use

Before starting a solar system, check the following conditions are met:

  • well sunny location (insolation degree ≥ 4; when in doubt, contact your technical department)
  • middle- to long-term project (the system is cost-effective after 2 years of use)

Users have to be trained on a regular basis to prevent breakdowns due to over-consumption of electricity.

The autonomy of the system is 3 days (it can bridge 3 days without sunshine).

The life of the system is limited by the life of the batteries which is expected to last 2 years when the system is used at its full capacity.

All radios must be powered on 12 V DC directly.

The charger/inverter included in the kit can supply with 220 V AC to power a laptop if necessary.

Caution

This kit is not designed to power other devices such as the fan of the radio-operator for example.
